one of the shows I always try not to miss at LFW is london-based singapore designer eugene lin’s, not just because he’s a fellow countryman but more importantly cos i’m a fan of his strong, tailored aesthetic and gorgeous silhouettes.
and this season, again, eugene did not disappoint.
following an amazing collection of dizzy digital prints and luxe embellishments, eugene took an about-turn with a clean, sculptured collection inspired by nordic mythology.
ethreal 3-D feathered prints and soft feminine pleating were juxtaposed with sharp, impeccably-tailored looks in a palette that ranged from a bold, pristine white to shades of a strong sunset-orange, ending in the deep, dark shade of a starless night sky.
SS2014 also featured the debut collection of eugene’s footwear and bag collection, a lovely addition to what one of the attendees called “his best collection yet”
the finale provided a lump-in-the-throat moment, as the valkyrie warriors from the old norse poem “helgakvida hundingsbana I” stood in perfect formation, the perfect ending to a perfectly-executed collection.
