a beautiful evening of vintage cognac, rare champagne and fine wine, paired with amazing cuisine, hosted by a couple of fab folks, surrounded by my fashion familia, and set in a historical building in a picturesque setting. that kinda summed up my Tuesday night this week.
I couldn’t have asked for a pair of more ideal hosts than the lovely christophe bourrie and su chen of remy cointreau, both excellent purveyors of fine taste and my partners in sartorial style.
dinner was held at the OFC ( olivia cassivelaun fancourt ) restaurant, situated at the former parliament house ( now known as the arts house ) in a private room which , according to the maître d, was where many important discussions concerning the fate of our nation took place.
we kicked off the evening with 2002 piper-heidsieck rare millesime brut champagne, so exclusive, it has only been produced 5 times – 1979, 1988, 1999, 2001 and 2002 – and one of the best in the world. only one word describes the experience – *exquisite*
the cognac was first created in 1724 , aged for 150 years and only released in 1874 , 3 generations later. the first case was sent to singapore in 1883.
the shape of the bottle is inspired by the flask found in the battlefields of cognac in the 1600s.
and so we drank and ate and made merry till the wee hours of the morning. and drank some more. and the beauty of being served only the most exceptional, first-rate spirits ? no hangover the next day !!!! completely sublime !!! cheers to our wonderful hosts for a most magnificent evening !!!
