the saying goes “clothes maketh the man”, but I believe that a person’s choice of footwear is what separates the men from the gentlemen.
one of the reasons why I sometimes get complimented on my fashion ensembles is cos of the shoes I pair with my outfits. and, more often than not, they are referring to my bespoke diamond walkers.
I was acquainted with the label when I visited the singapore multi-label store atelier pour homme. I was immediately drawn to the amazing array of styles in a myriad of colours and textures, and I left with a pair of hiking boots, which I wore on the set of the reality show asia’s next top model. I was amazed at how precise the fit was, and how comfortable the boots were.
diamond walker is a handmade, bespoke shoe label designed by korean creative director jin lee. they specialise in all manner of sartorial styles – oxfords, brogues and derbys, monkstraps and chelsea boots – as well as a good mix of the classic and the funky – loafers and riding boots included.
the shoes are completely custom-fitted, but that’s not the most fun part of the diamond walker process. you decide the kind of shoe you want – from choosing the type, the choice of skin and the colour, the design of heel, type of inner lining and laces and colour of stitching to even the type of shoe-making technique ( hand-sewn welt or cementing ? ). and the shoes are available in the widest array of leathers and exotic skins ( croco , python , ostrich , stingray ….. )
diamond walkers completely complimented the fun bodybound ensemble at london fashion week, as seen on Getty images ( above ).
had lots of fun co-designing this pair of gatsby-inspired oxfords to complete my thomas wee bespoke suit for the premier of baz luhrmann’s movie.
