putting together a live television show is no easy task. so it was with slight trepidation that my team and I boarded the singapore airlines flight to Ho Chi Minh city to choreograph the runway segments for the live finals of vietnam’s next top model.
having a packed schedule meant coordinating everything via email, but thanks to a super-efficient VNTM team, everything was properly laid out and ready to rock and roll the minute we arrived.
working on such crazy-tight deadlines meant assembling a super-efficient team of the best creatives. in two days ( inclusive of accompanying sleepless nights ), we managed to arrange a super soundtrack, thanks to DJ Fabian from paris ( who, co-incidentally, worked on the vietnam version of the on aura tout vu show that we produced in singapore ! ) ; british fashion photographer lee powers prepped for a live photoshoot on stage ; and we had the fabulous jay alexander – that’s miss J to you – who worked the contestants and models and made them runway ready, whilst producers dominic min clarke and sam yeo and stylist audrey ong worked on their routines for the stage, balancing theatrical elements with a touch of the dramatic, all whilst adapting it for television.
and so, with that, we set the stage for the live telecast on sunday, 22 december, on nationwide television. international celebrities and fashion personalities and the who’s-who of vietnamese society streamed down the red carpet, dressed in their finest, all wanting to be privy to the discovery of vietnam’s latest modelling superstar.
congratulations to the organisers of vietnam’s next top model for an awesome show, and for being such great hosts. the hospitality was warm and generous. and to my fabulous chaperone , tung – I couldn’t have asked for a better minder.
