the JEM journey began just after the lunar new year, when my team and i were tasked with putting together a mega-event to kick off the mall’s inaugural fashion season. it had to be dramatic yet keeping the signature identity of the space. it had to include all their major fashion and lifestyle tenants and showcase the trends of the season, put together in a creative yet accessible way ( ie no over-styled, pretentious piling-on of unnecessary accessories or overtly unwearable looks ).

fast forward to 16 april. outfits were put together by stylists audrey ong and sharon tan ; models were cast and fitted ; sets were designed ; all the essential paperwork completed. bump in began at 10pm, with the technical bits flying up in record time under the expert hands of the super-efficient crew. all ready for lighting programming at 3am under the watchful eye of show producer bryan gamboa, followed by the tech run, completed just in time for the arrival of the first models at the unearthly hour of 6.30am. ImageImageImage the 80-strong cast included some of the who’s who of models, including top singapore girl, new york-based vivien ong, asia’s next top model cycle one alumni sofia wakabayashi from japan and stephanie retuya from the philippines, top indonesian face ayufa and dior homme model reinaldo.ImageImageImage *supermodel vivien ong gets her own personal escort*Image Image hair and makeup for a whopping 80 people began at 12 noon Image backstage charts ensure the models are never in the wrong outfits and are always sent out in the correct running order ImageImageImageImageImage … and it’s showtime !!!! ImageImageImageImageImageImage nobody gets on stage without first passing through the watchful eyes of producer dominic min clarke

the JEM fashion season stretches from 17 april till 4 may, with a host of fashion activities, including fashion installations every week ( curated by my team and i ) .
